Let's try this again

It seems like every time I decide I am going to do some sewing or crafting something else needs to be done. :( This adulting thing is hard! I had thought with the pandemic I would have more time, but as an essential employee I was still working just as much as before. My husband and I also ended up with a great deal more responsibility helping his elderly parents.

Finally, last weekend I was able to take some time and do something just for me. A friend at my guild had gifted me a couple of yards of a dark gray solid fabric last year. When I first received it I thought what in the world will I do with that? I mainly do scrap quilts and very little with solids. I had a Kaffe bundle I had gotten a while back and I thought maybe the wild colors would help the sad gray fabric get some life. I pulled out my Accuquilt and my Hunter's Star die and went to town. Let me say, I rarely use my Accuquilt because I had a bad experience with one of my dies a couple of years ago, but this was amazing! I was able to cut all my gray and enough prints to match in a matter of probably an hour. The gray was only enough to do these 64 blocks. When I assemble them together it will only be 48" by 48". So I know I will never be able to match that exact gray. I am thinking I will get some black fabric and do 64 more blocks, alternating the black and the gray. Then I can put a border on it and call it done. My daughter saw it and said if I don't have anyone specific to give it to, she would take it. That made my day. She rarely seems interested in my quilts so score one for me!

While working on the Hunter Star blocks I made these sweet little 25 patch scrap blocks as leader and ender blocks. They will finish at 5 inches. These are really more my speed. The Hunter Star blocks went together so quickly with bigger pieces and fewer fabrics, but the little bits are what I like. Call me crazy.

I hope to continue finding a little time here and there to do some sewing. I can't guarantee I will every week, but I will post more when I have a chance.

Have a safe and happy day!
